Executive Director's Message

Temie Seibert, IMCA Executive DirectorThese are exciting times to say the least! We face immense challenges that have impacted the financial services industry and the effects of these challenges will be felt for many years to come. The current economic woes are being felt in every industry - no one seems immune. That being said, I believe that if we are nimble and creative we can find opportunity in the face of change and adversity.

I have been concerned about the impact the current challenges will have on IMCA as well as other associations. So far, I am being told that most associations are not being negatively impacted - at least not yet. This is certainly the case with IMCA. And, in some cases, there is has been a surge in interest in becoming a member of trade associations. Why you might ask? I believe that associations provide a platform for people from common industries, with common careers or who have common interests, to obtain the tools and support necessary to capture those opportunities, even in the face of change and adversity. You might say that associations provide some shelter to its constituents from the storm!

A few years ago, IMCA adopted a new strategic vision. The new vision is very comprehensive, perhaps even aggressive, and is very achievable. Even today. One of the cornerstones of the vision is to position IMCA as a Thought Leader in our industry. If one looks across the landscape of the organization, they begin to realize the immense amount of talent, knowledge and resources that our members bring to the table. We have a unique opportunity to capture these resources and position IMCA and our members as Thought Leaders or the 'go-to' organization in the area of insurance marketing communications.

Achievement of the goals outlined in the strategic vision is very exciting and we have moved forward on several goals already. I am honored to work with a very dedicated group of men and women who comprise the Board of Directors. These individuals, along with their committee members, have devoted hundreds of hours collectively over the past year, outside of their day jobs, to insure that the strategic vision is realized. These individuals bring an immense amount of talent, resources and experience to the table for the benefit of IMCA and its membership.

IMCA is a relatively small organization. We have enjoyed several years of success – robust membership growth, consistent increase in event participation and attendance, strategic partnerships with key companies, increased sponsorship of our events and increased volunteerism from members. We need to continue to build the organization from this strong foundation.

IMCA as a Thought Leader continues to be our overriding theme for the year – and the journey has begun. I would encourage each and every member to join us on the journey. Those individuals that have joined us not only report a sense of accomplishment in helping IMCA achieve greatness but they have enjoyed professional development, met peers in their industry, enhanced their networking circles and have had a great time in the process.
